Germantown Community Theatre is proud to be continuing its summer youth theatre program.

All Children’s Theatre!  

A.C.T. is a summer theatre program for people under the age of 18 and is designed to provide opportunities for young actors, singers, dancers, and technicians.

This Summers Smash hits are:

The musical You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown which will be performed outdoors at the Germantown Performing Arts Center.

Our play this year will be an exploration of the most popular children’s theatre Author, Aurand Harris. We will be presenting Arkansaw Bear and Androcles and the Lion.

F. I. T. at Germantown Community Theatre

Fun In Theatre is GCT's Spring/Fall Saturday morning FIT classes and now our own Homeschool FIT classes on Thursdays. All acting classes are taught by some the area's best teaching artists! During the summer, it's time for FIT Summer Camps which offers a variety of full and half day programs. Whether you want to create your own Super Hero, blast off into outer space, or brush up your improvisational skills, these classes are the perfect FIT for the young actor in every family! Come out and play!

Friendly Ghost Adventures (Pre K- 1st grade)                                                                                         Oct 13- Nov 3rd    Saturdays 9:30-11:30 am
Students will be learning improv & story telling skills as they discover their “inner friendly ghost”. We will be making costumes, creating characters, and telling stories that will take us on an outrageous adventure!  

Monster Mash! (Ages 7-12)                                        
                                                                                   Oct 13- Nov. 3rd   Saturdays 12:00pm - 2:00pm
It’s October and the “monsters” are back in town! Join us to see what happens when Frankenstein, Dracula, and the Wolfman are thrown together into some wacky situations… With the use of costumes and props and our wild imaginations, we will be creating characters based on the “classic” monsters and telling stories that have never been told!

Mask and Movement (Ages 10 +)                                                                                                                                                                                       Oct 13- Nov. 3rd   Saturdays 2:30-4:30pm
Mask making is an age old art. Students will create, mold and paint individual masks based on the stock characters of Commedia dell’Arte.  We will work together to create a performance based on high energy movement, comedy and improvisation.

Homeschool F.I.T. Classes

Introduction to Theatre   Recommended for 3rd- 6th Graders                                                                                                                                         Thursdays 9:30-10:30 - Sept. 6th – Nov. 27th
An introduction to basic theatre history, concepts and performance. The class will be a combination of reading, acting and discussion. The class will end with a public performance of scenes, skits and monologues that will showcase the lessons learned over course of the semester.

 

Shakespeare 101   Recommended for 8th-12th Graders                                                                                                                                                          Thursdays 11:30-12:30 - Sept 6th – Nov. 27th
A basic training course in the language, history and performance of William Shakespeare. This class will include reading a Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream and Romeo and Juliet as well as in class discussion and scene study. The class will each end with students reciting (1) Sonnet and (1) 15-20 line monologue.

Fairy Tale Trail

Every year Germantown Parks and Recreation presents the Festival of Fun and Fright.
As part of the festivities Germantown Community Theatre puts together a performance of a single fairy tale told through dialogue, lip synching and dance on a trail through the forest.

There are NO auditions and all are welcome to join the fun!!

GCT's After School Acting Adventures is a program to help reinforce what is taught in the classroom through theatre. Students will travel back in time to explore history, create new alien worlds, or even write their own play! GCT and its talented Teaching Artists will work with any school to create a program that fits your students' needs.
